Iron & Sulfur Removal
Iron & Sulfur Removal in Centennial
Oxidizing filtration for wells along Parker Road, around Foxfield and out toward Elizabeth.
Iron, manganese and sulfur in south metro wells
Iron and sulfur removal in Centennial is well work. Dissolved iron arrives clear and turns orange once it meets air, staining sinks, toilets and laundry. Manganese leaves black or brown specks. Hydrogen sulfide makes the hot water smell like rotten eggs. Wells in the Denver Basin aquifers can carry any of the three, and the amounts vary from one property to the next.
The fix is oxidation and filtration: turn the dissolved iron, manganese and sulfur into particles, then trap them in a media bed that backwashes itself clean. Air injection works well for many wells; others need a stronger oxidizer. We test iron, manganese, sulfur and pH, then pick the method your levels call for.
Sometimes the smell is only in the hot water. That usually points to the water heater rather than the well: bacteria in the tank react with a magnesium anode rod and produce hydrogen sulfide. Swapping the anode for an aluminum-zinc or powered anode often fixes it for a fraction of the cost of a filter. We check that possibility first, every time.
What the system includes
Built around your test numbers, with nothing left to chance.
-
Iron, manganese, sulfur and pH test
The four numbers that decide which oxidizer and which media will work.
-
Air-injection or chemical-feed oxidation
Air for most wells; stronger oxidizers for heavy sulfur or high manganese.
-
Backwashing media tank
A self-cleaning bed that traps the oxidized particles and flushes them to drain.
-
Sediment pre-filter
Keeps sand from fouling the oxidation stage.
-
pH adjustment where needed
Oxidation works poorly in acidic water, so we correct pH first if required.
-
Water heater check
We look at the anode rod, because some anodes react with sulfur and make the smell worse.
-
Drain and backwash setup
Backwash timed for low-use hours and run to a proper drain.
-
Stain-free proof
We re-test after startup and show you the before-and-after iron reading.
From stains to clear water
-
Test
We sample at the pressure tank and measure on site, with lab confirmation for manganese if needed.
-
Install
Oxidation and media tanks go in near the pressure tank with a bypass. Usually three to five hours.
-
Verify and tune
We check iron after startup and tune the backwash schedule over the first few weeks.
